Local Education Authorities

Keep an eye on LEA websites for information about vacancies (though not all advertise them directly), procedures for applying for posts and other general LEA information.

There's a list of all the English LEAs here: www.dfes.gov.uk/

www.education2000.co.uk provides a useful link to most of the LEA websites in the UK. Some links are broken, however, so you may need to experiment a bit, and some are missing. For example Torfaen (see here: www.torfaen.gov.uk) and Anglesey (see here: www.anglesey.gov.uk).

Job Ads

Prospects is a useful, general website for graduates seeking employment. Advice, opportunities, email alert service. The link here takes you to the teacher recruitment section. They also carry a useful list of LEAs with information about where they advertise their vacancies and an email contact.

For teaching as a career see the Teacher Training Agency website. There is a jobs page with a few links on it.

Absolutely essential for job hunters! The Times Educational Supplement has a fairly definitive jobs section. There's a specific website for jobs at TES Jobs where you can search for jobs and register for their email alert service. You can specify what type of job you are looking for and where. You will then receive a weekly email listing all the job ads in the TES matching your criteria.

UWCN Careers Service. Sharon Holt runs an Education Bulletin where teaching jobs are advertised. Generally these are local to the region.
The Guardian Education Job Listings. This also has an email alert service. Quite good.
Eteach.com has teamed up with The Independent.
You may be looking for work in the higher education or Further Education Sectors. Have a look at Jobs.Ac.Uk
Schooljobs.org.uk is the school sector equivalent to Jobs.Ac.Uk
For teaching opportunities in the independent sector see Teacher Online
